Botox

Botox is a popular FDA-approved cosmetic procedure that helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This quick treatment provides the patient with a softer more youthful appearance. Forehead wrinkles and lines located around and in between the eyes are treated most frequently. 

 

Botox procedures take about 15-20 minutes, and last for 3-5 months. The botox is injected with a thin needle into the targeted muscles. Patients may experience a burning sensation during the injections, but pain is minimal.

Botox has been successful in the treating of facial pain and TMJ. It has also been used to help patients adjust to dentures, augment lips, and in certain orthodontic cases.

 

During dental school, dentists receive training on the facial anatomy, physiology, skeletal structures, vascular and nervous system of the face, and overall facial esthetics involved with this type of procedure.
